Trenchtown, the Kingston 12 district in the city of Kingston JA, is where the mustard seed of roots reggae music was first planted. Clive Hylton (AKA Color Red), a Trenchtown native, was among the first artists who established the spiritual and cultural roots of the music, Rasta music, in the early to mid 1970s For example, it was Color Red who sang the iconic tracks From Creation and Judgement Day, recorded at the Black Ark in the 1970s. His musical legacy of strictly Rasta roots has remained consistent since then. The track RASTAFARI CROWN continues that legacy. The riddim, which revisions a classic roots track, was built at the Bakery studio in Manchester UK with musicians from the Ruff Trade band. The track was voiced at David Mcleod’s Yaadafame Studio in Trenchtown Kingston 12, with King David (Clive’s nephew) the recording engineer, and was finally mixed using all analog equipment by the genius Al Breadwinner at the Bakery in 2023.Mastering works done by Pressure Mastering.The lyrics commemorate the coronation of Selassie on November 2, 1930. Sadly, our brother Color Red currently suffers from a debilitating chronic health issue and is in hospital at present in Jamaica. This special digital download of RASTAFARI CROWN is offered as a vehicle to aid in covering Clive’s healthcare expenses. All proceeds from the sale of this track will go directly to Clive for his medical expenses.
